Rust

Since starting to study the surface of Mars for research purposes for my animation, I've seen inspiration and similarities on our planet in many form, one being rust. An old meter box outside my flat has been exposed to nature and eroded by rust for years. But the patterns and colours created by this weathering process remind me of NASA images I've seen of the surface of mars. The red, orange and blue tones very similar to those of Mars. The lines and layers marked onto the metal mimicking erosion and sedimentary lines you may see on a larger scale, on dried up old lands.
