No escape.

Through this project I intend to create work with a strong message that I believe in; there is no planet B.

I finished my previous project; in which I created environment designs for a potential short story that I had in mind, looking at the planet Mars as a source of inspiration for my work. I want to continue this research on and develop my environment designs in order to create visual pieces to aid creating a short animation. I'm not sure at this stage if I want to go on to actually develop the animation, as this is not where my skills lie and would mean a lot of technical skills being learned to try and attempt the animation. The final film would not be developed to a good standard in the time I have to finish this project. However, animation is a skill I deeply want to learn.

At this point in time I think it is so clear that we are all in this together. Having been faced with an event such as COVID should we not have realised how imperative it is to work together as a species. We have been forced into our homes, into these small areas of safe space that we have, in order to dodge disaster. Now that we start to creep out of our places of safety to once again live how we were, should we not be realising how much we appreciate the space and ability for life that Earth provides us?

During my major project I will be touching on issues such as global warming and COVID and how I think humanity may adapt in response to such issues. For example in my animation work I will be looking into the issues of our desire to look for a back up plan, to flee to another planet such as mars. Also, through my research into Heterotopias I will be looking at how we use tech to create digital heterotopias, such as virtual reality spaces, to escape from the issues we are facing with our own world, and how me may be escaping into them further.
